Welcome to the Kentucky Horticulture Council

The Kentucky Horticulture Council was established in 1991 with the primary purpose of creating a centralized, unified voice for the Commonwealth’s horticulture industry.

Since its founding the Council has focused on three primary objectives:

  1. To provide an avenue for the various horticulture groups to focus on common issues;
  2. To promote Kentucky horticulture to the public, elected officials, university leaders, and state and federal agencies; and,
  3. To foster support for statewide horticulture research and teaching programs at the University of Kentucky and at other regional Kentucky universities.

The horticulture industry is one of the fastest growing segments in the nation’s agriculture business. Kentucky’s horticulture businesses have also experienced considerable growth. The Kentucky Horticulture Council is proud of the impact that the Agricultural Development Fund has had on the state’s horticulture expansion. This significant investment has helped farmers diversify and grow.

Kentucky Proud Logo Kentucky Proud is also a program that is strongly supported by the Kentucky Horticulture Council. Our members recognize the value of consumers seeking out Kentucky grown products, and we encourage and aggressively promote the program throughout the state.
